In addition to our weekly tournaments there are 3 Major Tournaments that take place throughout the entire season including the....

Club Championship

The Club Championship is two days of stroke play for all flights. The championship will be played on Wednesday, September 13th and Thursday, September 14th, with the following Wednesday reserved for a rain date.

This will be a gross only tournament, and prizes will be given to: Club Champion (the player with the lowest score for the tournament, regardless of flight), “A” flight winner, “B” flight winner, “C” flight winner and “D” flight winner.” In case of ties, players will continue to play in “sudden death” format until a winner is determined.

Flights are based on course handicaps as follows:

A Flight: 0-18

B Flight: 19-24

C Flight: 25-30

D Flight: 31 and higher

There must be a minimum of two players in each flight. Determination of flights may need to be adjusted based on the number of participants and their handicaps within each group. Handicaps for purposes of flight determination will be as of the first day of the tournament, September 13.

The Tournament Committee Chairperson will make the pairings for all players for the first round according to handicap within flights. The final round of pairings will be based on standings.

In order to be eligible to compete in the Club Championship, each player must have submitted five scores from tournament play at Oak Hills. SCWGA and SNEWGA tournaments do not count toward the five required scores.

A player may not withdraw in the middle of a club championship round without good cause. When you sign up to play you must commit to the two- day tournament and the rain date. Any player who withdraws without good cause will be disqualified from competing in the Club Championship the following year.

In the event of rain, the tournament chairperson will make the decision to reschedule to the designated rain date, and will notify all participants.

FORMAT

The Presidents Cup is a MATCH PLAY event. Individual golfers compete hole by hole. The goal is to have the fewest strokes than your opponent on each hole. Whoever wins the most holes wins the match and moves onto the next round.

SCORING

Each hole is a match within a match. If you have fewer strokes than your opponent you win the hole. For scoring purposes you would be “+1) or up 1 and your opponent would be “-1” or 1 down. If your opponent wins the next hole , the match is now even “E”. Also known as “all square”. At the end of each hole you should confirm what the score was. At times it might be appropriate for a player to concede a hole and pick up. You keep a running score as you continue to play the round. (See example of a hard copy score card attached ).

Match Play may not go the full 18 holes. For example, if the score is 6 up, with only 5 holes to play, the Match is over. You may continue to play to finish the round but the competitive match has been completed. This year scorecards will be provided for each match and include “dots” according to players handicap. For Example, if you have a 20 handicap and your opponent has a 10 handicap, the Net difference is 10.  The player with the larger handicap would then get 1 stroke on each of the 10 most difficult holes. Those holes would be marked with a single dot on the scorecard. For those holes you would receive a one stroke benefit.

Individual play: Full handicap (maximum 45). Handicap used for entire  tournament will be that in effect on the first day of the tournament, July 12,  2023.

This is a two-round tournament played over two consecutive weeks. Actual  score is posted hole by hole for each round. Select the better score, hole by  hole, from each round, circle it and total the circled scores for the total gross score. Deduct full handicap to determine the net score.

Prizes will be given to the first and second gross winners and to the first,  second, third and fourth net winners. The first gross winner will have her  name put on the “Golden Oak” plaque.

Note: Players may play only one round and still be eligible for the tournament. They will,  however, be at a disadvantage since they will not have a second round opportunity to  improve their score.

will compare and confirm scoring results with the Golf Genius scores to ensure accuracy. If you need instructions for entering scores through the Golf Genius mobile app you can find information on our Website here under the Tournament tab and then click on Instructions for Scoring.

At the end of the round, verify the scores entered into the Golf Genius mobile app, hole by hole, with the hard copy tournament card. The winner will have the card signed and attested and then transmit a copy to Kathy (KK) Jaeger.

Scores entered into the Golf Genius mobile app Will Not be transmitted automatically to GHIN for handicap purposes, because of the format. if a player chooses they can submit their individual scores into GHIN.
